Very Tangy's very own Rich Tuckwell was recently invited to contribute an article to The HR Director, sharing his own experiences on overcoming adversity in the work place.

Working as an Ambassador for Represent, a social enterprise which aims to 'improve the visibility of ‘inclusion and diversity’ in marketing campaigns', Rich spoke candidly about the importance of being accepted as a gay man by colleagues. Employers who fail to provide a working environment in which employees feel comfortable enough to truly be themselves will miss out on the wider perspectives and range of experiences that a diverse work force can bring to a company.

Rich said, "We can all affect change within our businesses and the only way to do that is to ensure your staff know it’s fine to be gay, lesbian, transgender, transsexual or even a power ranger at work if they want to be."

The sectors supported by Represent include advertising, public relations, direct marketing, digital marketing and web design, social media and design. Represent believes that agencies operating within the creative industry should reflect both the community in which they are based and the public with whom they communicate with on behalf of many brands and services throughout the UK.
